Samba Class - An Interview with Neguinha Sambista from Aquarela Dance Group
It is Carnival and to celebrate it with our readers I visited Neguinha Sambista, a professional Samba instructor from Aquarela Samba Troup, in Berkely, CA. We interviewed her about the history and styles of the dance, and she told us about her classes. We also filmed parts of the lesson for you! Aquarela teaches Samba and provides Samba shows around the SF Bay Area. We filmed Neguinha Sambista at the Dance Mission Theatre in San Francisco.
The class was fantastic! The music is vibrant and all the students -- experienced and novice -- looked beautiful, healthy, and happy. Totally contagious! Check out the video!

I love dancing since I was in my school days, I also use to participate in different event hoted in my school life. I still have my Mephisto shoes in which I danced very often and even won prize in inter school dance competitions. I am very happy to see the dancing video of "Aquarala" Dance Gruop which is very nice. As we know there are different types of dancing styles and if I have to choose one I would prefer salsa which I am learning know. I did not have much informatin about "Samba" dance which is very exiting. I like styles of samba which I was not aware about. I also appreciate Neguinha Sambis who has devoted her much time of life in this dancing concept.
I love dancing in different style . I was wondering for samba dance. I was so eager to know and learn this dance style. Through your blog , I got to know about Samba dance. The interview with Neguinha Sambista was so informative. I knew more about the history and style of samba dance. The video is quite helpful for me to learn the samba dance. Seeing the video I have learnt some step of Samba dance.
I like Latine dances and Samba is one of my favourites. It is so vivid and beautiful. Watch this dance http://www.tubesfan.com/watch/samba . I think you'll agree with me. It is nice that samba which is taught here doesn't demand a partner, because often it is very difficult to find a partner.
