Below are 40 words that follow an easy pattern between English and Portuguese:

• English ending in –ence .................. audience
• Portuguese ending in –ência ......... audiência

Watch out! There are tricky exceptions:

• Difference = Diferença
• Presence = Presença
• Silence = Silêncio
